Our Core Services

We ease cultural transitions by preparing families and au pairs for differences in expectations and traditions, fostering harmony and understanding.

Matchmaking & Screening

Careful pre-screening of Japanese au pairs by Sakura AuPairs. Families are introduced to shortlisted candidates who would be suitable for their needs and life-style. Video interviews and Q&A sessions with candidates.

Training & Preparation

Au pairs receive cultural training, children support guidance, and pre-departure cultural orientation. Training and guidance are provided by our former au pairs, bringing practical experience and real-life insights to the program.

Ongoing Support

12 months of continuous support including regular check-ins, mediation, and guidance. Care & Guidance Throughout Placement, Monitoring onboarding, Au Pair Training, Occasional local or online meetings.

Japanese-Language Liaison

We provide Japanese-language support for au pairs and act as a liaison when needed to ensure smooth communication and cultural understanding for your family throughout the placement.

How much does it cost to host an au pair?

Since one-time agency fees can feel abstract, it is often easier to break them down into a monthly equivalent.

This excludes the Registration Home Visit Fee. Please note that during our pre-sponsor phase, we offer the NL Partner Package at approximately €533–€590 per month (plus an additional partner agency fee). Netherlands Aupair Program Service Fees Details

Working with an agency ensures careful candidate selection, visa and immigration support, and ongoing mediation.

1. Registration & Home Visit

When do you receive invoices?

  • Home Visit Fee – €170: Charged at the time of registration
  • Placement Fee & Immigration / Visa Administration– €3,270 (€2,020 + €1,250): Invoiced upon successful matchmaking, prior to the au pair's start date. This invoice also includes the travel costs associated with the Home Visit.
  • Family & Au Pair Integration Support (Ongoing Support) – €780: This can be paid in full once the au pair's flight is confirmed.

Host Family Contributions

As a host family, there are several costs and provisions required by law and good practice to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enriching au pair experience.

Recommended Additional Support (Optional)

To help the au pair feel grounded and integrated in the local community, families may consider:

  • Gym Subscription – Supports wellness and social integration
  • Local Workshops – Cultural or skill-building activities
  • Social Events – Opportunities to meet peers and practice language
  • Therapy Sessions – Access to a partner multilingual therapist at a special rate for host families and au pairs

These optional activities help enhance the au pair's cultural immersion and well-being but are not mandatory.

Rematch Policy

In the event of a rematch after the first month of the au pair's arrival, we will urgently support your family in recruiting a new candidate.

Families can book an inquiry call or complete our registration form. We discuss your family's needs, expectations, and lifestyle. An introduction to the au pair programme and how it works in the Netherlands.

Home Visit & Family File Review

A home visit to better understand your family's needs and environment. Collection and verification of required family documents. Building a tailored family profile to introduce you to potential candidates.

Matching & Candidate Selection

Careful pre-screening of Japanese au pairs by Sakura AuPairs. Families are introduced to shortlisted candidates who would be suitable for their needs and life-style. Video interviews and Q&A sessions with candidates.

Placement & Preparation

Final selection and confirmation of your au pair. Visa and immigration administration (when required). Pre-departure cultural orientation for au pairs. We help families in preparing for the au pair's arrival (welcome tips, onboarding guide, household rules).

Arrival & Onboarding Support

Assistance with practical matters: registration at the municipality. Guidance for families on how to make the au pair feel at home. Welcome meeting and culture guidance for au pairs.

Ongoing Mediation & Support

Regular check-ins with both family and au pair. Mediation if challenges arise. Resources for cultural exchange, language learning, and well-being. Continued support for the entire duration of the placement.

Completion & Next Steps

End-of-stay guidance for au pairs. Feedback and Evaluation. Families may choose to continue hosting with a new au pair, supported again by Sakura AuPairs.
